As children begin their training, they will learn basic rolling and falling, etiquette, Japanese terminology, and movement. We utilize various drills and exercises to enhance agility, balance, and coordination. We emphasize the importance of listening, paying attention, following instructions and asking questions. Aikido is perfect for children because it is a defensive, non-aggressive style of martial arts. Children are not taught how to fight, but how to resolve conflict in a peaceful manner and protect themselves only if necessary. Students are taught to exhibit compassion by not causing harm to another human being. Respect and etiquette are stressed and expected to carry-over into daily life.
